A sound-absorbing and damping cladding for machinery etc., comprises a flexible cover (opt. with support structure) consisting of: an outer cladding of plastics or elastomer, opt. contg. filler, having a min. weight of 2 Kp/m2; a soft, closed-cell foam layer laminated onto the first layer; a layer of closed-cell soft foam contg. spaces filled with sound-absorbing loose filler, esp. granules, less than 1 cm size, of closed-cell soft foam. At the junction, penetrations etc. the structure consists of a homogeneous layer of closed-cell soft foam. The cladding can be used with machinery and vibrating parts. The cladding can be fitted in direct contact with the sound-producing components.
