Bending machine for steel tubes - heats tubes with induction coil prior to bending operation around support rollers

A bending machine for large steel tubes has an induction coil assembly (32) which is used to heat the tube section that is being bent. The horizontal tube remains stationary on top of support rollers whilst the induction head (32) moves axially along the tube until a stable temperature required for bending is obtained. When the induction coil stops, hydraulic cylinders start moving the heated tube axially through the bending head against set stops which ensure that the required tube bend is obtained at the correct position. The arrangement is partic. for large dia. hollow tubes which are normally prone to deformation.
