In a planetary mixer the axis of the stirrer shaft is inclined at an angle of 45 degrees to the vertical, and the stirring element has the form of a square made up of parallel rods. Used in mixing systems requiring thorough inter-dispersion of the components with minimum loss from the surface. Intimate mixing is obtained below the surface without disturbance of the latter so that, for instance. loss of volatile components is minimised.
