The creasing and folding machine is esp for filter material as used in the production of oil filters and has two stamping rollers (12, 13) which prepare the web material (1) for the subsequent creasing and folding operations. On emerging from the stamping rollers the web material passes through drive rollers into a channel whose side surfaces converge downstream. The lower and upper walls diverge so that the required shape is formed as the web moves along the channel. The two diverging sides have smooth guide ribs running along the channel and especially along the centre lines of the depressions between the folded ribs to be formed.
