Non-aq. photographic process is carried out with a material having a light-sensitive layer contg. a complex salt (I) of Fe, Mn, Co, Cr and Pt and an polymeric binder (II) by exposure and development of the latent image. The layer also contains an organic cpd. (III) which can be bleached and coloured in the oxidn. reaction catalysed by the ions of the stated metals formed on exposure of the layer. Development is carried out with peroxide cpds. (IV) of Br, I, S, H or K and the image is fixed by treating the material with cpds. (V) forming a complex with the metals. Short exposure times (in the 0.001-100 s range) can be used. E.g. the material contained gelatin, Co(NH3)5Br3, alizarin and haematoxylin in phosphateborate buffer, pH 7.5. It was developed with H2O2 soln. and fixed with alkali. It had high sensitivity for visible and UV light.
