Enlargment and deflection of the final optical axis of the appliance in relation to the observer are obtained purely by a combination of refracting devices which are each fastened to the same support. These devices are suitably positioned in relation to one another. These interconnected devices are a prism, placed between the object under observation and the eyepiece system, and a converging lens. They can also consist of a converging cylindrical lens forming the objective and a convergent system consisting of one or more circular aspherical lenses.
