摘要
A concrete stair tread is made by fitting edging strips to a rectangular base plate and filling the trough so formed to the edge with (if necessary, reinforced) concrete. (The base plate and edging may be of pre-cast concrete, though other material could be used). The edging strips are pref. fixed to the base plate with an epoxy-resin or similar adhesive. The pref. method is to take a long base plate, of which the width is the length of the required stair tread, stick an edging strip at one end and then further strips, of double the width, at intervals corresp. to the width of the stair tread. The plate is then sawn through the middle of each double-width strip, and the remaining edging is stuck in place to complete the individual forms. The concrete (reinforced if necessary) is then poured and allowed to set, then smoothed down to the level of the edging.
