Appts. for measuring the length of moving fabric piece goods has sensor which accommodates to the strength of the fabric before the material passes through a looped section between two rollers. The sensor triggers control units to determine the loop of fabric to give the least amount of stretch to the material and to ensure that it follows a straight path between the rollers. The system allows fabrics with a high stretch potential, such as knit goods, to be measured accurately and to follow a straight path as they move through.
