A groove is cut on the surface of a cone, which forms a closed curve. There is a guide in which a roller (2) is placed, and the guide is mounted parallel to the surface of the cone. The roller is guided by the curved groove and is made to move up and down when the cone is rotated. The angle of the cone determines the angle between the axis of the cone drive and the centreline of the linear movement. The position of the curve on the cone surface determines the amount of lift which can be achieved with the cam arrangement.
