In a capacitor produced by screen printing, with its base electrode applied to a carrier plate and fired and its counter electrode sepd. from this by a dielectric paste based on Ba titanate (I) with a vitreous binder (II), the paste contains added Cr oxide (III). The paste consists of (I) with 5 wt.% Bi2O3-CdO-SiO2 and 0.5-5 wt.% (III), the base electrode of at least 2 of Pd, Au and Ag and the counter electrode of Ag paste. In an example, (I) + 2 (O) wt.% (III) gave a capacitor with a relative dielectric constant of 1200 (700); loss factor of 14 (10) x 103; insulation value of 2 (5) x 105 Mohn/cm2; dielectric strength of 600 (500) V; and ageing rate of 1.0 (3) %/h-degrees C. The paste give capacitors with improved electrical and mechanical properties, esp. low loss at high relative dielectric constant, low ageing rate, higher dielectric strength and reduced moisture sensitivity, by the thick film technique.
