The seat cover consists of a spring elastic material of organic nature which is grooved, e.g. ribbed so that when not loaded the grooves (6) are open but when loaded the groove close up, with the closure points (5) of the grooves being relatively deep beneath the surface of the cover, e.g. more than 1/8, pref. 1/4 of the depth of the grove. This provides a comfortable smooth surface for the occupant without sticking. The shoulders of the grooves above the closure points (5) can be rounded or angled off.
