The building serves as an electric transformer or switchgear station, where there is medium-tension plant at risk to explosions. There is a service compartment in front of the switchgear, and the latter has a side where provision is made for explosion outlet, and pressure release apertures pref. at a height above that of the switchgear. The servicing compartment (14) is partitioned off by bulkheads from the expansion compartment (18) which connects the explosion release side to the aperture (10) and these may be laterally offset relative to the switchgear (11).
