The roller includes a packing material surrounding the roller of the colour roller and protecting it from damage and dirt. The packing material consists of at least one packing strip (10) which is enclosing the circumference of the roller (1) and through which is projecting a support (2) for the roller (1). The packing strip (10) is forming above the roller (1) two parallel together joined tongues (11, 12) which are provided with a hole (15) for suspending the roller (1). The width of the packing strip is the same or the length of the roller (1) and the tongues are joined together by staples (14). The packing strip (10) has in the bottom (5) a hole (6) through which is projecting the roller support (2).
