Large wall building block mortaring cavity - has cavity extending over most of width between narrow vertical nose projections

The large building block is pref. made of porous lightweight brick, and has a mortaring pocket, or more than one, on the narrow sides facing adjacent blocks, in the form of a recess extending from top to bottom. Here the mortar-holding compartment (5) extends over practically the whole width of the narrow side (3), with only a vertical nose-type projection (6) separating it from the outsides (2) of the block. The projections can be in the form of a partially cylindrical bulge, with the recess for mortaring running into the rounded surface with sloping transitional surfaces (7). There can be a vertical stone flank dividing the recess into two part compartments. A flat abutment between block can be achieved in masonry, with no unfilled gaps if blocks are drawn along for correct positioning.
