Method is provided for cleaning the inking mechanism of an electrophotographic copier in which a latent electrostatic image is developed with the cooperation of a conveyor cylinder (7) for electrostatically and magnetically attracted developer. A magnetic field passes through the cylinder. A guide plate (16) is applied to the surface of the revolving powder-coated magnetic cylinder, to conduct the toner power entrained by the cylinder to a disposable collecting receptacle (17), pref. a paper bag which can be attached to the plate. The above method allows rapid and easy replacement of developer.
