A simple angle measurement transducer depends on a variable inductance principle and consists basically of two mutually opposing coils mounted on a common core. Two E-shaped ferrite cores (10, 11) are mounted at an angle, typically 90 deg., with a jointing magnetically-conducting prism (14) completing the magnetic circuit between them. Two balanced coils (12, 13) wound in antiphase are posiitoned, one on each core and a ring (15) short-circuiting the magnetic circuit can move on the core between them according to the angle concerned. The coils are serially connected and are excited by an oscillator and inverter. A phase-sensitive detector monitors the voltage of the common point. The phase of this represents the angle being measured.
