The anti-theft protection for the car comprises a key operated lock (1) on the dashboard. The lock isolates the ignition and operates a control shaft linked to a blocking lever (6) which grips between nipples (9) on the bonnet release cable, so that the bonnet cannot be opened. The system provides a simple double interlock protection. It prevents the thief from gaining access to the engine so that the ignition can be bypassed.
