A flowmeter is for liquids or gases. The flowmedium is made to circulate in the flowmeter chamber by suitably designed passages such as a nozzle ring. Freely moving elements such as spheres circulate with the flowmedium and their movement in terms of position change or speed operates initiators. The flowmeter chamber pref. has inlet and outlet passages. Pref. the chamber cross-section is such that the moving element fills the largest possible area with its free movement being hindered by the chamber walls.
