Coal cutting machine rotary cutter - has split conical body, front plate, and helical plate with picks attached to edges

The rotary coal cutter (14) has a frusto-conical body (16) with the smaller diameter end attached to a support arm on the machine. The larger diameter end carriesd a front plate (18) of larger diameter, and a helical plate (24) extends rearwards from this plate to the rear. The front plate has a sloping rear face. The periphery of the front plate carries at set of cutting picks which slope forwards, and the helical part carries picks which extend radially outwards. The body is split axially, and can be secured to the drive spindle by an adaptor ring, the two halves being locked together by nuts, and bolts. Water can be fed through channels from inside to the cutting picks.
