The tool has a cutting plate (6) comprising a body (10) with a cutting insert (11), where the insert is made of polycrystalline diamond, and forms a longitudinal cutting edge (7). The body is formed by triangular shaped flat surfaces i.e. upper and lower surfaces (12a, 12b), where the surfaces are connected by side edges i.e. front cutting edge and rear maintenance edge. The front cutting edge carries the insert, so that the edge (7) partially extends along length of the upper surface. The rear maintenance edge cooperates with the shape of a reception housing to maintain the plate in position.
