Block copolyamides are prepd. by dissolving oligoamides in a lactam melt and polymerising the soln. by anionically activated polymerisation. The oligoamide-lactam solns. pref. contain =40 wt. % lactam, contg. =5 ring members. Prods. include moulded articles, semi-finished materials, containers and pipes. Continuous polymerisation in an extruder allows prodn. of bristles, pipes and foils. The oligoamides need not contain only amino end-gps. No weak positions occur in the polymer chain. Polyamides having relative viscosities 3 (1.01-3) may also be used. Crystallinity of prods. decreases with quantity of added oligoamide. Transparent prods. having a lower softening point and improved solubility can be obtd.
