摘要
Carbon articles are made from stacked or wound layers of (primarily) cellulose which are impregnated with thermosetting resin, cured under pressure to flat or curved sheets, and heated to 800 degrees C in a non-oxidising atmos. The laminated material used is specifically phenolic or cresol resin-impregnated cotton fabric. Process produces thick-walled articles if required, having micro-porosity and without blistering, it uses common raw material, prods. are suitable for e.g. crucibles, conductors, temp.-resistant thermal insulation, filters, prostheses, electrodes because of their chemical and thermal resistance etc.
