An appts. for the transportation and metered discharge of radioactive and/or toxic media comprises an inner leak-tight vessel to contain the medium, a first containment vessel surrounding this vessel and with the intermediate space filled with shielding material, and a second containment vessel (third vessel), the internal space of which can be evacuated or purged by a scavenging gas through a filter element and pipe connection. This outermost second protection vessel is composed of a lower pot and an upper bell or cover. The middle vessel (first containment vessel has penetrations, through its top plate and plugs and measuring elements in the side walls. The innermost vessel is pref. supported from the first containment vessel by lead shot filling and rings. Used partic. for the transportation of elementary iodine or organically combined iodine to ventilation or other installations of nuclear power plants, for the purpose of injecting the gas as a test agent. The vessel possesses an extremely high degree of safety against mechanical damage and escape of radioactive substances. A large number of samples can be taken from the one vessel. Due to the transportation of a relatively large volume of medium, autoradiolysis is reduced and the stability of the medium raised from a few days to several weeks.
