Solar energy collector of flat plate construction - with transparent top cover cemented directly to collector housing

The housing of the energy collector, within which the energy absorber system and its liquid flow connections is located, is covered on the rear with thermal insulation. It has an outer flange which is flat and parallel to the housing floor. The transparent top cover plate of the unit is cemented directly to htis flat flange without intermediate frame of support. The flange may have a ribbed surface to give optimum adhesion, with a joint ring closing the outer section. Simple and compact construction with reduced front-to-back overall thickness of the unit.
