Ball-and-socket joint comprises ball component and outer body where the sliding surface of at least the outer body being sprayed with a PTFE coating which is sintered at 400 degrees C onto the bearing surface of the ball component and/or the outer body and bonded to it. The PTFE coating is 50 m mu thick. Application of relatively thin PTFE coating does not impair load-bearing capacity of the ball-and-socket joint. Abrasion characteristics are at least on a part with bearings coated with prior-art, thicker, PTFE sliding surfaces. Advantageous low-friction behaviour of the PTFE coating is fully preserved. The coating is evenly distributed.
