Adhesion promoter for glass fibre-reinforced epoxy! resins - contg. organic silane, water and di:acetone alcohol or glycol ether

Adhesion promoter for glass-fibre reinforced epoxy resins consists of an aq. soln. of an organofunctional silane (I) which additionally contains diacetone alcohol (II) and/or a glycol ether (III). An azeotrope is formed. A typical compsn. contains 1 wt. % 3-(2,3-epoxypropyl)propyl trimethoxysilane, 12.6 wt. % (II) and 86.4 wt. % water. The comps. completely coats the glass fibre web, as (II) or (III) reduce the surface tension, so improves adhesion efficiency. The web is then impregnated with epoxy resin and the resulting laminates used to make printed circuits.
