Instantaneous specific fuel consumption determining process - dividing fuel consumed by vehicle by distance travelled measured by counting distance pulses

The determining process ascertains the instantaneous specific fuel consumption by a motor vehicle. The fuel is pref. continuously supplied in specified, constant amounts. Distance travelled during consumption of one or several of these fuel amounts is measured, and specific fuel consumption determined as the quotient of consumed fuel by distance travelled. Distance travelled is measured by distance pulses generated during the time interval in which one or several fuel amounts have been consumed. The pulses are counted and their number multiplied by the distance travelled per pulse.
