The machine for cleaning the sand from childrens' sandpits is mounted on a small trolley with either two or four wheels. A conveyor or screw extracts the sand from the pit and feeds it into a drum. The sand is then directed on to a vibrating screen which separates any foreign matter such as dogs' excreta. The screened sand is next washed with water from a tank mounted on the trolley and then disinfected. The cleaned sand is then returned to the sandpit whilst the foreign matter is packed into sacks for transport on the vehicle which carries the trolley.
