Centring of symmetrical workpiece on inspection gauge - uses test signal derived from feeler gauge, which is corrected to determine necessary movement
The workpiece is placed on an adjustable and tiltable centering table, and its surface is traced along its periphery in lines running radially to the feeler axis. A correction signal is subtracted from the signal so obtained, and as a result a display signal free from eccentricity component is produced. Amplitude of the test signal for at least one fixed point is stored. The centering table is then moved and the sum of the amplitude of the correction signal corresponding to this point, and of the measurement signal changed by the table movement, less the amplitude of the stored signal is made equal to zero. After this, a correction signal for further surface tracing is re-determined.
