Malt kiln drying floor - tilts to discharge into hopper below, and swings clear rails for travelling hopper above

A kiln for green malt has a floor supported underneath a travelling spreading device and carried by brackets which act as a pivot so that the whole floor can be tilted to discharge its load into a hopper below, at one end of the kiln structure. The rails on which the spreader device travels, each have an end portion which is swung up as the floor is tilted. The free end of this portion is carried by a latch system at a recess in the wall, and including a lifting mechanism. The end of the floor is connected by struts with rollers at their ends, which travel along the swinging parts of the rails.
