The aircraft wing comprises arrays of aerofoil blade cascades (2) mounted in a frame replacing the usual wing. The frame has wing-section top (3) and bottom (4) members with flat vertical end (5) and intermediate (6) plates. The frame width equals or exceeds the projected cascade width. The angle of attack, blade angle, cascade height to blade width ratio, blade stagger and overall wing profile are chosen in combination to give max. efficiency over flying speed range. Entire cascade assemblies or individual blades can be rotatable about an axial axis. Each blade can have an axially hinged trailing portion.
