The stator (1) and rotor (2) are fitted with set of plate tumblers (3). Each tumbler has a rectangular shape, and is loaded by spring (6) acting along its longer side (4) parallel to its longitudinal axis (5). In one position, the spring presses the rounded shorter axis (5). In one position, the pring presses the rounded shorter side (7) of the rectangle into a recess (8) of the stator. The springs are arranged in such a way that one group of tumblers is loaded in an anticlockwise direction, and the other is loaded in the opposite direction. This is achieved by arranging the abutments (13) on the plates and those on the rotor (2) in alternating opposite positions. By this arrangement it is made impossible that the tumblers could be forced into a position enabling the unauthorized opening of the lock.
