The floating island with a high standard or seaworthiness comprises a platform supported primarily by vessels of ocean-going size. These have all their superstructure at one end so that the bulk of the hull is under the platform. Connections between supporting vessels and platform are flexible. Additional support under platform centre can be provided by a buoyant body. The platform should pref. be built up from modules within the carrying capacity of supporting vessels.
