Auto-thermal coal gasification - by plunger pumps compressing fuel portions to high reactor pressure and extracting ash portions

In an autothermal process of gasification under pressure for solid fuels, e.g. granular hard coal with a gasifying agent, separate portions of fuel are displaced by a plunger pump and compressed to the active pressure in the reactor. The portions are then injected in a continuous stream into the pressurised space of the reactor. Similar pumps are used to release the pressure of the ash in portions to atmospheric pressure and to discharge it. Process simplifies the feed of fuel and the discharge of ash for a gasifier and creates the preconditions for a pressure rise in the reactor space. Both the fuel throughput and the quality of the production gas can be improved considerably.
