Auto-thermal coal gasification in fluidised bed - using plunger pumps for feeding fuel and discharging ash in portions

In an autothermal gasification process of solid fuel in a fluidised bed with a gasifying agent, the fuel is pumped from a bunker to the gasifier in metered portions which are compressed to the reactor pressure, sealed from the displacement pump, and finally ejected into the gasifier. The ash is extracted in portions by similar pumps, its pressure released to atmospheric pressure, and discharged. The higher throughput rates and great simplification of the installation raises the profitability of the process.
