Cold dwell dyeing of carpets - using dye baths contg. wetting agent to improve dye penetration

In a process for dyeing carpets with acid-, dispersion-, metal complex and/or other cationic dyes, the dye is fixed by the cold dwell process in which the treated carpet is placed on a rotating mandrel with the exclusion of air. The dye compsn. used contains a wetting agent and opt. an anti-foam agent, and is free from foaming agents. Compared with prior art cold dwell deying processes for carpets using a foamed dye compsn., the present agents penetrate more completely down to the base of the pile and into the pile fabric itself, and give more even dyeings with improved moisture resistance.
