Pulse counter for telephone exchanges - uses different criteria provided for counting short and long distance traffic

Counting pulses for short distance connections are generated by switching devices for counting during local connections. Switches are provided in a higher order stage differentiating between short and long distance traffic, with different marking for short and long distance traffic, pref. in the start signal. When direct connection is made to the equivalence element, the criterion is transmited through one or several wires. A pulse train for short distance traffic is generated in the switch for counting, and if all lines to the equivalence elements are blocked, switches in the higher order connection stage, generate a different criterion for short distance traffic than for long distance traffic, pref. by different starting pulses. Switches in the outgoing translation evaluate these different criteria and transmit to the equivalence element the same criteria as in directly made connections.
