Bedside reading book support - has swivel support arms with detent catch for easy single-handed actuation

The bedside reading book support for bed-ridden people and the like comprises a rear wall (1) with a tray (2) for the book or magazine and scissor-like swivel hoops (6, 7) which can be moved against spring force from a closed to an open position by means of a pressure bar (15) which interacts with the actuating arms of the swivel hoops (6, 7). A detent mechanism (20) automatically locks when the swivel bars (6, 7) have been moved into the open position. Holders (3, 4) for the book jacket are provided in the area of the tray (2) and/or back wall (1) so that the pages can be turned over easily with one hand. The detent mechanism (20) is pref. a central bolt (21) which can be biased by at least one ratchet spring (22) and is associated with a detent groove (23).
