3'-Acyl-altromethylosyl-bufatrienolide derivs. - used as orally resorbable cardiotonic agents

Cardiac glycosides of formula (I) are new. In the formula R is 2-14C alkyl; 1-4C alkyl substd. (pref. terminally) by halogen, CN, -COOEt, opt. substd. phenyl or phenoxy (esp. p-tolyl, p-tolyloxy or p-chlorophenyl); 3-6C cycloalkyl or 4-7C cycloalkylmethyl. (I) are cardiotonic agents with strong positive inotropic activity good resorbability on oral application and low cumulative effect. They are used for treating heart disorders such as cardiac insufficiency and tachycardia. Dose is 0.05-5(pref. 0.125-2) mg.
