The high performance windscreen wiper has two parallel wiper blades on a common holder, with the ends of the blades sealed to form a closed space when placed on the windscreen. The space is linked to a low pressure supply so that the suction enhances the blade pressure and prevents the blade from leaving the windscreen. The wiper provides effective wiping for high speed vehicles including aircraft. The cross section of the enclosed space is either U or V shaped. A pipe (30) on the rear of the wiper connects the space to the vacuum line via a flexible pipe along the wiper arm.
