The wire or cable duct consists of a tube (10) wiht a C-shaped cross-section that holds the cables and engages a base (15) mounted by screws to a wall etc. The ends of the C have hooks that extend along the tube as lips. These lips engage corresponding lips on the inside of the base and thereby retain the tube. An alternative arrangement comprises a fully closed rectangular channel that clips onto a wall-mounted base socket-like assembly.
