Appts. for coating roofing felt with ground shale has a shale discharge tube connected to pneumatic conveying pipes and provided along its length with discharge apertures, the tube being flanked on opposite sides by suction tubes in turn connected to suction pipes and provided opposite the roofing felt with openings. Shale is a deposited uniformly over the whole felt area and environmental pollution is prevented.
