Fire protection wall for cabinets, rooms, etc., using an insulating layer (b) with several latent heat storage layers (a) next to the room. Layers (a) are sepd. from each other by thermally insulating layers; and the layer (a1) nearest the room contains a substance (A1) with a lower transformation temp. (t1) than the layers (a) farther away from the room. One or more layers (a) pref. contain a substance absorbing heat of evapn., esp. where the substance is distributed in a porous absorbent material, and the layer (a) contains channels reaching the atmos. The absorbent material is pref. expanded metal contg. macromolecules, e.g. alginates; open pored foam; or aerosil. Layer (b) is pref. pressed from dendritic mineral crystals, e.g. silicates contg. pores with a dia. smaller than the free path length of hot air. The substances used in layers (a) nearest to layer (b), i.e. nearer a fire and thus at a higher temp., pref. combine latent heat storage with evapn. heat, and are e.g. Na2CO3, 1OH2O; Na2CrO4, 1OH2O; Na2SO4, 1OH2O; Na2HPO4, 12H2O; Na3PO4, 12H2O; AlK(SO4)2, 12H2O. Used e.g. on electronic data storage cabinets; rooms protecting human from fire or atomic explosions.
