Hydraulic drilling head coupling - using two wedge keys applied by power ram mould ball bearing

A coupling is included in a drilling head with a hydraulic drive by which the torque for rotary drilling and for coupling and uncoupling the tool joints between the drill pipes is transmitted. Two wedge keys can be moved up and down in inclined guides by remote control to engage with straps on the outside of the drill pipes. This greatly simplifies the manual insertion of keys and saves time during ancillary drilling operations. It saves the use of ladders or scaffolds when the drilling head is out of reach.
