The chuck for lathes has a circular main flange for holding the chuck centrally relative to the lathe drive shaft. A round eccentric flange is rotated about the eccentric bore of the main flange and the chuck mounted eccentrically on the flange. The chuck is used for machining in one setting workpieces whose cross-section is enclosed by curves bounded by several circular arcs with a common radius of curvature. Circular components can be also turned and holes can be drilled in the non-circular cross-section. The clamping chuck (18) is mounted so that it is rotated about its own axis of symmetry on the eccentric flange (12) and the chuck can be held in any required position.
