The time switch is connected to an incandescent glow plug in an IC engine. It has a bimetal element which is used as the switching component. It is connected electrically to one end of a ballast resistor and operated by the heat developed in this ballast resistor. The other end of the basslast resistor (11) is connected to the fixed contact (16) with which the free contact end of the bimetal element interacts. The resistance of the ballast resistor is greater than that of the bimetal element (14).
