Reducing magnetic reversal losses in amorphous alloys - by heating to temp. above Curie point and below alloy crystallisation temp., and cooling (NL 29.8.78)
Magnetic reversal losses in thin sheet or pole cores of amorphous alloys are reduced by heating the article to a temp. range above the Curie pt. and below the crystallisation temp. of the alloy to effect a relaxation, and cooling the article under controlled conditions to below the Curie pt., both heating and cooling being carried out in air or another oxidising medium. Specifically the amorphous alloy has the compsn. Fe0.40Ni0.40P0.14B0.06 and is heated for 0.5-2 hrs. to 280-350 degrees C, and cooled to =200 degrees C heating and cooling being done in air or an oxidising medium. Method is simple and time saving and gives a pole core which as a flat hysteresis loop of F shape at low magnetic reversal losses.
