Cleaning coal or oil fired power station flue gases - in circuit using cooling tower to cool and then scrub the gases

In an electrical power station in which the waste heat is dissipated by means of a cooling water circuit, part of the water transferring the waste heat is used to wash out the harmful constituents from the flue gases. The water carrying the waste heat is cooled by cold air in a direct exchange, and during this heat exchanging operation the washing of the flue gases also takes place. Where a cooling tower is used, the previously cooled flue gases together with cold air are introduced at the bottom of the tower. Method reduces the installation costs of a flue gas cleaning plant for a coal or oil burning power station.
