The vessel has a housing with a conical bottom and agitating unit consisting of a propeller (10) driven by a motor (11). The propeller operates in a collar (12) on legs. The sludge mixture is fed into the vessel through a pipe (6) terminating on top of the central tube. The tube reaches into the turbulence chamber separated from the clear water chamber by a set of screens (5). The outlet of the central tube (7) has a non-return element (8) which prevents turbulent sludge entering the tube. Clear water is drawn off through a pipe (14) and slidge emptied through another connection.
