Aerating tunnel supports for compost heap of decomposing waste - comprising trestles standing on pallets with perforated tops

Supports of parent patern are for a compost heap in which household rubbish, drainage sludge, etc. are decomposed cleanly to produce an dreanic fertiliser. The supports form longitudinal tunnels in the base of the heap communicating with vertical chimney shafts to produce continuous oxygenation. The walls of the supports are perforated to allow circulating air to pass thro. In addition, the supports are carried on pallets which are located between the supports of two adjacent tunnels. The top platforms of the pallets are perforated to allow air pass freely through i.e. pref. in the form of a grill or screen construction. The perforated pallet tops assist aeration and speed the decomposition process. The possibility of unventilated dead spots, together with the danger of offensive putrefaction, is thus eliminated.
